Diego Costa To Disappoints Arsenal? [Must Read]
Blues' goal machine says he's "certain" to play in this weekend's big London derby after his iffy hamstring lasted 90 minutes against Sporting Lisbon
Diego Costa has warned Arsenal he is coming to get them on Sunday – and nothing is going to stop him.
Summer signing Costa is the Premier League's top scorer with eight in his first six matches for Chelsea, despite the ongoing hamstring issue which has landed him in the middle of a club versus country row.
But while Costa failed to score his first Champions League goal for the Blues as they edged past Sporting Lisbon 1-0 in Tuesday's group game, the Brazilian-born Spain international promised he is ready to lead from the front against Arsene Wenger's men.
Costa said of Sunday's London derby at Stamford Bridge:
"Of course I will play against Arsenal. I am certain.
I played 90 minutes [in Lisbon] and now I can have a rest. I do not see a problem.
I feeThere are a few niggles that are annoying me, but I am working to treat them during the week with the physios and the medical staff. Every day l closer.
Yes, there are days when I do not train so I can prevent problems, but there are other days when I can train.
It is a matter of communication between me and the medical staff to find the best way possible to move forward and get over the problem.
Ideally you would be training every day but there have been many times when I have not, more as a precaution than anything. But things are improving.
Normally I try to forget it during the games so it does not inhibit my performance. It does not enter my head. You are just thinking about playing in the best way, not worrying about what might happen.
To play 90 minutes suggests I am okay. Every time I play I feel better.
The manager asks me regularly how I am to make sure I am in the best possible shape. I will keep working to return to complete fitness.
Costa also insisted he did not want to be involved in another "war'', between Chelsea and Spain, following the dispute over his controversial pre-World Cup nationality switch.
But with Chelsea fans believing the striker can terrorise Arsenal's back division in the way Bridge legend Didier Drogba did for years in his first spell in SW6, Costa added of the Gunners:
They are a great team.
Everyone knows their strengths and how important they are, but hopefully with our strengths we can do something positive.
