In Sports - NFF promises to appoint permanent coach

The Super Eagles will get a new coach before the end of June – A technical crew led by either a local or foreign coach is expected to be appointed In a move to ensure adequate preparation for the Super Eagles ahead of the 2018 Fifa World Cup Qualifiers, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that it will name a permanent coach for the senior national team in June. Amodu Shuaibu has been appointed to lead a quartet of Salisu Ibrahim, Alloy Agu, Imama Amakapabo and Kennedy Boboye, for the two international friendly games against Mali and Luxembourg.

The team has been without a substantive coach, since Sunday Oliseh resigned in February. According to the NFF Technical Committee, a technical crew led by either a local or foreign coach would be appointed after the friendlies. Meanwhile, the Super Eagles will take on the Eagles of Mali and the national team of Luxembourg in two international friendly matches in Europe in the next FIFA window. The three-time African champions take on Mali, ranked four places above them at 63, at the Stade Robert Diochon in Rouen, France on Friday, May 27, 2016. Mali finished as runner-up at the Africa Cup of Nations in 1972, and took bronze medals at the finals in 2012 and 2013.

The Eagles of Mali have already qualified for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals, having garnered 10 points from their first four matches of the qualification series, in a Group C that also has Equatorial Guinea, Benin Republic and South Sudan.
