Social media users are venting their fury after an endangered gorilla was killed for grabbing a child who fell into its enclosure.
A zoo response shot the animal dead at Cincinnati Zoo after the child fell up to 12 feet into an enclosure for the animal,Daily Record reports.
Video from the incident, which took place yesterday, shows how the child was then dragged around for 10 minutes.
That's when the animal, called Herambe, was shot dead, with the child taken to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Centre .
He is said to have sustained no serious injuries.
But social media users have slammed the zoo for killing the gorilla, despite claims by zoo bosses that the child was in "a life-threatening situation".
