Boy,16 charged with murder of classmate who was found with head and arms severed
A teenager whose decapitated body was found with its arms severed and many other horrific injuries weeks after he disappeared was allegedly murdered by a classmate.
Police have not revealed a motive in the killing of 16-year-old victim Lee Manuel Viloria-Paulino, who was last seen alive on November 18.
His high school classmate, Matthew Borges, also 16, was arrested this weekend after Viloria-Paulino's body was found on a riverbank and will be charged with first-degree murder as an adult.
CCTV from a neighbour's house shows the pair leaving Viloria-Paulino's home and four men returning later without the victim, local media reports.
Authorities in Lawrence, Massachusetts, in the US said killing was so brutal that the victim's mutilated body required an 11-hour autopsy due to the "many, many horrific injuries" he suffered, the Boston Herald reports.
He said police arrested Borges on Saturday after officers searched his family home earlier in the day and found enough evidence to make an arrest.
The victim's family, however, wasn't satisfied with the police investigation.A friend said the Viloria-Paulino family met Borges days before Lee disappeared, but did not know him well.
The victim's headless body was found last Thursday by a woman walking her dog along the Merrimack River. His arms had been cut off near the elbows.
