Glo finally unveils Nigeria's hottest dancing competition, Dance with Peter


Africa's biggest corporate supporter of entertainment and integrated telecommunications service provider, Globacom, is sponsoring a Reality TV Show that will change the face of entertainment in the continent.

Tagged “Dance with Peter,” the reality show is a 13-week dancing competition in partnership with the sensational African dance prodigy, Peter Okoye, the twin brother and partner in the sensational and multiple award winning musical group, P-Square.

The show was launched at a glamorous and well attended event held at Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday evening. Leading entertainment figures including Peter and Paul Okoye (PSquare), rap king, MI, new female sensation, Di’Ja of Marvin Records and Guinness Book record holder for longest dancer, Kafayat Shafau Ameh, popularly known as Kaffy, attended.


Globacom said that “Dance with Peter” was designed to promote and glamourise the dance culture among West Africans and assist those who may want to go into the dance profession to discover their prodigious talents.
“It is going to be the biggest reality TV show in recent time, with huge benefits for the participants in the competition, entertainment lovers and television viewers generally,” the company promised.


It disclosed that the winner of the competition would go home with a brand new Toyota RAV 4 with N3million cash and the rare opportunity of featuring in P-Square’s next music video.
The first and second runners-up, on the other hand, will go home with a brand new Honda Civic car, N2million cash and a brand new Kia Rio car with N1million cash respectively and a chance to feature in a top Glo Ambassador’s music videos. Globacom said that outstanding Nigerian dancers such as Peter, Kaffy and Flex will feature in the show as judges while Ehis Okoegule of MTV Base will be the host.
Auditions for the show will be held in Lagos, Port Harcourt, Benin and Abuja in Nigeria as well as in Accra, Ghana. Six dancers will be selected by the judges from each location for the real battle in Lagos.

Glo explained that the show would run for 13 weeks, with the first two weeks spent on profiling and auditions, while the next 10 weeks would be for the elimination series which will all be themed. The last episode would be the grand finale of the show which will be held in Lagos with international superstars.
"Dance with Peter is in line with our commitment to keep on delighting our teeming subscribers and adding value to their lives, economically and socially. Fun seekers on the continent in general and in West Africa in particular are about to witness the best dance show ever. It is going to be 13 weeks packed full of excitement,” said Globacom.
Showbiz superstars and Glo ambassadors will feature as Guest Judges in the competition.


​Dance with Peter will be broadcast on Afrimagic, AIT in Nigeria, TV3 in Ghana and ORTV in Benin Republic. Broadcast times will be announced shortly.


Globacom said registration for the competition has started and it is open to only Glo Subscribers in Nigeria and Ghana. “Registration costs N100 for Nigeria and 0.5GHc for Ghana. Subscribers are required to send ‘DANCE’ to the shortcode 55517 in Nigeria and 3030 in Ghana. They will then be requested to send their details such as Name and Location at no extra charge. All successful registrations will get a confirmatory SMS with instructions on what to do next.
